#OnRepeat: John Legend’s “All of Me”

This week, I’ve had John Legend’s “All of Me” #OnRepeat. I don’t know why I haven’t written about John Legend yet on here, and I’m sure I’m pretty late in the game for being stuck on this song, but, I really can’t stop listening t0 it.

John Legend is a singer-songwriter, pianist and actor who has won multiple awards, including several Grammy Awards and an Academy Award. He has collaborated with vocalists such as Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys and rappers such as Jay-Z and Kanye West. Some of his most well-known songs are “Ordinary People,” “Used to Love You,” and “Green Light.”

John Legend not only has a great voice (his vocal phrasing and improve is reminiscent of Jazz and R&B and Soul music of the 1960’s), but he has an incredible knack for writing catchy melodies and lyrics on top of relatable, yet beautifully written arrangements.  “All of Me” is no different. The song, which talks about loving someone completely and fully, giving themselves to that person, showcases Legend’s vocal range and his ability to move throughout it.
